Engine Oil & Filter Service
Focus: Most gasoline vehicles. Time: 25–40 min. Difficulty: easy.
Tools
Floor jack + stands · Oil filter wrench · Drain pan · Torque wrench
Steps
- Warm the engine to operating temperature, then shut off.
- Lift and support the vehicle on rated jack stands.
- Remove the drain plug and drain oil into a catch pan.
- Replace the crush washer if specified; reinstall plug to factory torque.
- Spin on a new filter (pre-oil the gasket), then fill with the correct viscosity and capacity.
- Start the engine, check for leaks, verify level on a level surface.
